Privacy Policy
Draft for review — this policy has not yet been approved by Brighter Bolder Beginnings' leadership or legal counsel.
Last updated: Not yet approved — date will be set on approval
Your privacy and safety matter deeply to us. This policy explains, in plain language, what information this website handles today, what we will do when forms are introduced, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Brighter Bolder Beginnings is a survivor advocacy initiative. This website, brighterbolderbeginnings.org, shares survivor-centred information, advocacy and links to independent support services.
2. Information you submit
At present, this website does not have any live contact, partnership, donation or survivor-story forms, and it does not require an account to access any resource. We do not collect personal information through the website.
When such forms are introduced, this policy will be updated before they go live to explain exactly what is collected, why, and who can see it.
3. Why information would be used
If you choose to contact us or submit information in future, we would use it only to respond to you, to consider partnership or support enquiries, and — for survivor stories — only in the ways you explicitly agree to. We will not sell your information or use it for advertising.
4. Confidentiality and survivor privacy
We will never publish a survivor's name, photograph, testimony or any identifying detail without documented, informed authorisation from that person.
We do not claim that information sent to us is completely anonymous or encrypted end to end. Email and other online communication can be seen by others, for example on a shared or monitored device. If someone may be watching your device, consider using a safer device, and see our Safety guidance.
5. Limits on confidentiality
We respect confidentiality, but it is not absolute. In rare situations we may be required by law to share information — for example, in response to a valid court order, or where there is a serious and immediate risk to someone's life, or concerns about the safety of a child. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we would tell you first.
6. Sensitive information and data minimisation
Please share only what you are comfortable sharing. We aim to ask for the minimum information needed and to avoid collecting details about health, abuse or other sensitive matters unless you choose to provide them for a specific purpose.
7. Consent for survivor stories
Stories are never published automatically. Story sharing is not yet open. When it opens, you will choose how you are identified (or not), review what will be published, and be able to withdraw consent. Each story will be reviewed with you before anything appears on the site.
8. Third-party services and external links
This website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, which may process basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the site. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and images are delivered from a content delivery network; these providers may receive your IP address when pages load.
We link to independent services such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline, RAINN, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and love is respect. These organisations have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
9. Cookies, analytics and tracking
This website does not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking tools, and does not set tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy first.
10. Storage, security and access
Because no personal information is currently collected through the website, none is stored by us through it. When forms are introduced, access to submitted information will be limited to people who need it to respond, and we will describe the safeguards in place here.
11. Retention and deletion
Retention periods will be set by the organisation and published here before any form collecting personal information goes live. You will be able to ask for information you have shared to be deleted.
12. Your privacy requests
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will respond as promptly as we reasonably can.
13. Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Young people looking for help with dating abuse can contact love is respect (call 866-331-9474 or text LOVEIS to 22522).
14. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change, such as when forms are introduced. The date at the top of this page will show when it was last approved.
15. Contact for privacy questions
A dedicated privacy contact address will be published here once the organisation's mailboxes are set up and verified. Until then, please use the Contact page.
